The largest festival of space activities in the Czech Republic, Czech Space Week, is in full swing – and the Brno University of Technology (BUT) is part of it. This year, in addition to initiating and co-organizing the Czech Space Pavilion at the Brno Exhibition Centre, BUT is once again hosting the Space4Women event, which will take place on Friday, October 24, in the courtyard of the BUT Rectorate. Come and be inspired by the stories of women reaching for the stars. The Universe Through the Eyes of Women: an inspiring Space4Women debate at BUT. | Author: Czech Space WeekThe Brno University of Technology (BUT) supports women in technology without distinction. This Friday, the focus will be on women working in the space industry. As part of the nationwide Czech Space Week, the university will host the discussion talk show Space4Women – a meeting of women active in the space sector.
Is space really just for men? Definitely not. Many successful scientists, managers, and experts are pushing the boundaries of what is possible – not only in space. This traditional event, part of the country’s largest space festival, challenges stereotypes about the space industry and research. Its goal is to present the space sector through the eyes of women who contribute to it – women who work in it. It also aims to inspire and encourage young women and girls to see the beauty of space and realize that nothing stands in the way of their space careers.
On the stage in the courtyard of the BUT Rectorate, four women will come together to challenge the stereotype that space is only for men. They will show that space is fascinating – and that there is more than enough opportunity for women who want to explore. The audience can look forward to Soňa Ehlerová, an astronomer at the Czech Academy of Sciences and Czech delegate to the European Southern Observatory; Natálie Gogolová, a systems engineer at Spacemanic who has worked on satellites Veronika, GRBBeta, CroCube, and LasarSat; Julie Vašků Dobrovolná, the university coordinator for space research at Masaryk University; and Terezie Němcová, a space law popularizer and export control specialist in the aerospace sector, with experience from ESA and Airbus.
The event will take place on Friday, October 24, from 6:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is free; registration is required here.Come and discover what it’s like to be part of exploring space – and be inspired by the stories of women reaching for the stars. | Author: Czech Space Week
