Visitors to the Czech Centre London have the opportunity to admire book titles from the last ten years of the Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year competition until the end of June. Publications from the VUTIUM Publishing House, including book Příběhy laku, are also featured. The book showcase, prepared by the Museum of Literature – the Memorial of National Literature, is part of the exhibition Identity – The Story of Czech Graphic Design. The Faculty of Fine Arts of BUT (FFA) is also a partner of the project of the same name.Author: Tereza HavlínkováThe book Stories of Varnish from VUTIUM Publishing House is dedicated to the work of Milan Houser, who serves as Vice-Rector for Artistic Activities and Sustainability at BUT and heads the Department of Traditional Media at FFA. In the 2020 edition of the Most Beautiful Czech Books the publication won 3rd place in the category Books on Fine Art. The graphic design was created by Adam Macháček from the 20YY Designers studio. The publication presents Milan Houser's unique painting material and applied technique using varnish, pigment, and dye on canvas. It is primarily a visual story with an attached catalog and a concluding interview between the artist and art theorist Tomáš Pospiszyl.
