Reward successful graduates of economics-related fields for well-executed master’s theses. Provide university students with feedback and give them a positive boost at the start of their professional careers. Highlight unconventional economic topics while also rewarding university instructors for their expert guidance of thesis work. These are just some of the goals of the seventh edition of the traditional Atlas Copco Services Award, which is once again looking for interesting economics theses created at Czech universities. The winners of the last two years were graduates from the Faculty of Business and Management at Brno University of Technology.
Ceremonial announcement of the competition results in 2024. | Author: Cena Atlas Copco ServicesThis year, the authors of the most interesting economics theses will compete for a total of CZK 60,000. The main prize is CZK 30,000, and the jury will award a total of 10 students and 10 of their supervisors. Graduates can submit their theses until the end of August 2025 on the website www.CenaAtlasCopco.cz, where they can also find more information about the competition.
Anyone who has successfully defended a master’s thesis related to economics, business, or marketing can apply. The jury will assess originality, an unconventional perspective on the issue, handling of the topic, and potential for practical application. Theses may be written in Czech, Slovak, or English. Theses defended as early as August 1, 2022, are eligible.
The topics of winning theses are remarkably diverse each year, and it is by no means a requirement that the thesis must have received an “A” grade during its defense.

At Atlas Copco Services, we consider supporting economic education very important, which is why we also recognize instructors and supervisors who play a significant role in students’ professional growth,” said Roman Pavloušek, General Director of the Atlas Copco Services Financial Center.
Graduates from all major Czech universities regularly place in the competition, and the number of submissions continues to grow.
“Every year, dozens of graduates from across the Czech Republic enter the competition, and it will be very exciting to see which universities this year’s winners will come from. Our jury, made up of managers from our economics department who work daily in finance and accounting, will have the tough task of reading and evaluating all submitted theses and reaching a consensus on the winners. In any case, all theses offering a fresh and original perspective on a topic, an effective solution to a specific problem, or practical applicability have a chance to succeed,” Pavloušek added.
The topics of the winning theses are extremely varied each year, and almost anyone has a chance to succeed in the competition.
