Course detail
Generation, Distribution and Utilization of Electric Energy
FSI-FVEAcad. year: 2007/2008
The course is concerned with the principles of electrical power engineering and the way of their application to practice. Power production in thermal, nuclear and water power plants. Synchronous generator (substitute scheme, opinion diagram). Current and voltage generator equation. Independently operating generator. Parallel operation of a synchronous generator in the grid, connecting a generator to phases. Generator excitation systems. Asynchronous motor operating as a generator. Power transmission through extra HV lines and HV lines, electrical stations. Industrial installation, power distribution in houses and public buildings. Wire dimensioning, wires and cable breakers, power factor compensation. Protection against dangerous contact voltage. Electric heat and heating.
