Theory and praxis of rhetoric and communication, principles of effective communication, speaker's personality, personality types, temperament, character, communication process, types of communication, importance of communication, social communication, nonverbal communication, communication at high standard, managing a variety of communication speeches, public speech, diction, respiration, phonation, articulation, preparation of the content and form of spoken speech, linguistic and stylistic means, nonverbal means, structuring rhetoric speeches, segmentation of a speech, monologues and dialogic forms of public speech, reduction of stress.

Aims
General information rhetorics and principles of communication, preparation of the content and from of a speech-principles of communication between people. Practical use of the gained knowledge and experience by means of self-reflexion test in the from of so called public speech using video.

- 1. Introduction to social sciences studies. Importance for theory and praxis in civil engineering. Contribution of subject "Communication and Rhetoric" for a student of Faculty of Civil Engineering.
- 2. Social psychology and its place in personal life. Psychological terminology. Memory, speech and mind.
- 3. Methods of a psychological and communication research. Dialog, questionnaire, anamnesis. Personality formation in environment.
- 4. Personality and its structure. Temperament and character. Personality types. Age periods of the personality development. Biological and sociological determination of the personality.
- 5. Nonverbal communication and its types. Gestures, facial expressions, eye glances, haptics, proxemics. Nonverbal expressions and speaker's personality.
- 6. Communication and rhetoric nowadays, its usage in professional praxis and personal life.
- 7. Principles of a quality public speech. Diction, respiration, phonation and articulation. Preparation of the content and form of the speech. Communication among people.
- 8. The types of presentation (informational, persuasive and improvised). Software support of presentations. Visual aids, optimal work with them.
- 9. Linguistic and stylistic means. Speaker's personality. Czech language in speeches. Presentation academic language.
- 10. Segmentation of a speech. Quality of public speeches. Effective introduction and conclusion. Ways to stress-coping.
