Students will go through a field experience and thus will gain knowledge and skills in mostly practical form of architectural heritage preservation such as:
– preparation and performance of building archaeology survey (BAS);
– basic understanding of restoration research and the principles of cooperation with restorers;
– basic understanding of archaeological research and the principles of cooperation with archaeologists;
– specific technological aspects of traditional materials and construction preservation;
– principles of cooperation with other specialists and institutes (e.g. National Heritage Institute, „site manager“ of a world heritage site etc.).

The introductory lectures are followed by the field trips which involves explanation by specialists (restorer, archaeologist etc.), and the excursions to the buildings or sites with ongoing heritage renovation or architectural intervention in a heritage valuable environment.

The end-of-course test with textual or graphical tasks verifies students' understanding of the topics presented during the course.

The aim of the course is to introduce students to a scale of tasks, problems, and methods in designing and realisation of architectural heritage renovation, and to introduce this on particular cases from practice.
