Timber structures
FAST-BOA018Acad. year: 2023/2024
The student will learn and master basic principles and methods of design of load-bearing members of timber structures, as well as basics of design of selected types of structural systems, such as lamellar structures, space rod systems, ribbed dome, arch and shell structures, as well as timber footbridges and bridges. They will also methods and procedures of design of realistic structural members and components in the sense of standardized European documents. Partial problems of the course teaching include issues of characteristic quantities, design of joints, design of tension bars, beams, torsion and compression bars. The principles of rehabilitation and reconstruction of timber structures and examples of realized timber construction systems are also included in the course. In general, the content of the course is focused on the reliability and effectiveness of the load-bearing structures.
