Diploma Thesis Seminar

The student gains an insight into the newest trends in the area of satellite systems. The first part of the course consists of a series of lectures, presented in English by specialists from the insdustry, foreign universities or from BUT. The content of the lectures is focused on spacecraft structures, sattelite networks, signal processing, antennas and signal propagation.

In the second part of the course, the student will present ideas of a selected scientific journal paper from the field of space applications.

All compulsory courses of the first year of MPA-SAP have to be passed.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The course consists of two parts: a) participation in online English lectures; b) study and presentation of a professional article.
To successfully complete the course, it is necessary to obtain a specified minimum number of points in each part.
- Evaluation during the lectures min. 24 points, max. 48 points
- Studying a professional article and its presentation min. 26 points, max. 52 points
Total min. 50 points, max. 100 points

Aims

The aim of the course is (a) to acquaint students with the latest techniques and trends in the field of satellite systems, (b) to develop students' ability to understand a professional text and (c) to support presentation skills.
The graduate of the course is able to: (a) understand a professional presentation conducted in English; (b) describe the nature of selected modern techniques used in satellite systems; (c) understand the nature of a professional journal article; (d) prepare and defend a technical presentation in English.
