Course detail

Communication Systems

FEKT-BPC-KSYAcad. year: 2023/2024

Students first become familiar with architecture of common analog and digital communication systems (block scheme, basic functions). Then, the building blocks operation and methods of signal processing (source coding, encryption, channel coding modulation, synchronization, etc.) are described. At the end the students obtain an overview of recent communication system types and their particular representatives.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

3

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Entry knowledge

Fundamentals of signal processing and electronics.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Students can obtain 25 points for the activity in laboratory exercises. The final exam is honored by 75 points (maximally).
Evaluation of activities is specified by a regulation, which is issued by the lecturer responsible for the course annually.

Aims

Lectures are aimed to present common structure of analog and digital communication systems, to explain their basic building block function, and to show examples of recent typical systems for audio-signals, video-signals, and data transmission.
The graduate is able (1) describe architecture of common analog and digital communication systems, (2) explain basic building block functions, (3) apply some algorithms of signal processing.(4) and orientate oneself in recently used communication systems.
