Basics of First Aid

First aid is the basic procedure for immediate non-medical assistance for life-threatening conditions. The course explains the procedure for recognition of various injuries and also aims to teach students how to proceed in saving lives.

Course curriculum
2. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children. Specificities of resuscitation in children and newborns, the sequence and length. Some urgent health disorders in children.
3. Types of bleeding, stopping of bleeding, Types of wounds, treatment, arterial, venous, capillary bleeding. Pressure points, pressure bandage, rubger bandage, bleeding for body apertures, internal bleedding, shock and antishock measures. Minor injuries, scalping and loss injuries, amputations, burns, bandaging.
4. Injuries of chest and abdomen. Fractures, injuries of joints and muscles. Types of fractures, complications, immobilisation, fixation, splint techniques, injury of axial skeleton, transport.
5. Consultations, test.
