Original Abstract

The paper deals with the problems of the application of external bonded reinforcement based on FRP composites for strengthening steel beams to increase their flexural load-carrying capacity and stiffness, in the case of reconstructions, for example. With respect to practical usage and requirements the investigation is directed towards the strengthening by externally bonded lamellas. For this problem solution the theoretical analysis and experimental verification are utilized. This paper shows the results of experiments realized so far, to verify the actual behaviour and to obtain the objective resistance and based on these results to assess the suitability and efficiency of CFRP lamellas strengthening.
