Original Abstract

Article deals with repair and reconstruction of the bridges by prestressing. It describes conditions of application of post-tensioning at the strengthening of RC beam, beam-and-slab and arch bridge structures. It specifies the conditions for post-tensioning with unbonded prestressing cables (monostrands) at repairs and reconstruction of older concrete and masonry bridges. There is described the structural and technological process of additionally drilled cable channels for embedding unbonded prestressing cables or prestressing bars. Following text describes the essential structural details (bolsters – deviators, anchorage areas, cable channels, protection of prestressing reinforcement) necessary for safe design of the strengthening and long-life serviceability guarantee. Description of the developed and experimentally verified structural processes of the individual structural members strengthening is presented
