Original Abstract

Sulphur hexafluoride SF6 is considered an optimum-quenching medium in HV circuit breakers. Products of dissociation and ionization of SF6 react especially with vapours of metals evaporated from contacts of circuit breakers. The reaction products influence properties of the quenching medium. Calculations of the properties of quenching medium necessitate knowledge of its composition. The paper presents a general method for calculating an equilibrium composition of a gaseous system in a ideal state. The method is applied to the gaseous system of products of reaction SF6 with bCu (00 has not been published so far, so that only the results obtained for products of dissociation and ionisation of SF6, i.e. only the results for b=0 are compared with results of calculations and measurements presented in literature.
