Original Abstract

New generation of control electronics for lens micropositioning system of optical tweezers is presented. Set of geared DC motors is employed as mechanical actuator allows precision n-dimension manipulation with optically caught micro-particles. The full digital controlled electronics optimally cuts down a needed time delay for movement lens system to requested positions. High-resolution position sensors inside DC motors and digital signal processing used for digital PID servo-loop improves dynamic range and precision of the lens positioning. All operations of the designed electronics are controlled remotely by a PC computer through Controller Area Network (CAN) serial bus. The achieved resolution of the lens micropositioning driven by geared DC motors is better than 1mm.
