Na ústavu technologie stavebních hmot a dílců Fakulty stavební VUT v Brně byla v průběhu posledních let experimentálně zkoušena možnost výroby dřevoplastových kompozitů. Tato výroba v sobě zahrnovala zejména optimalizaci dřevního plniva v termoplastické matrici. Výroba finálního kompozitu probíhala v laboratorních podmínkách na extruzní lince TDS 30B, kdy za polymerní matrici byl použit polyetylen a polypropylen, plnění polymeru bylo provedeno částicovým plnivem smrkovými pilinami.

Within the evaluation of wood plastic composites was detected the change of their final physical-mechanical properties in dependence on the type of filler, amount of filler and type of polymeric matrix. For the component types of filler were the jute fibres, wood splinters as well as hemp splinters used. In the case of splinters fillers they were used in larger size than generally used fibres in nowadays WPC materials. For the polymeric matrix were the polypropylene and polyethylene matrices used. In the experimental work were observed the values of bulk density in dependence of filler contents and for the evaluation of mechanical properties were chosen the Charpy impact behaviour and tensile strengths for all the types of prepared specimens.
