Original Abstract

The principle of the project is in an analysis of the influence of the cooling rate on structure and mechanical properties. Cooling rate was measured by thermocouples on simple casting with different wall-thickness as well as dendrite arm spacing (DAS) and mechanical properties. Casting were poured into sand moulds and permanent moulds. The influence of the cooling rate on structure and mechanical properties is significant. Values obtained during the experiment will be used for creating material database of Al-alloys for numerical simulation.
