Original Abstract

This paper deals with a comparison of results of concrete frost resistance tests. Two concrete mixtures of similar composition were used in the experiment, one of which was designed to be frost-resistant. Frost resistance testing was conducted both on test specimens obtained from a larger block, which represented a real concrete structure, and on test specimens produced in a laboratory using moulds. The evaluation of frost resistance was based on a decrease of the dynamic modulus of elasticity. In the conclusion, the paper presents a double comparison of the results. First of all, the results obtained on the laboratory specimens are compared with the results of the test specimens extracted from the structure. At the same time, the results of both employed concrete mixtures are compared with each other. The output of the paper is, inter alia, a recommendation on how to approach the determination of frost resistance of concrete that is built into a structure.
