Original Abstract

This paper deals with lithium-ion batteries, specifically the electrolytes used. The degradation mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries are addressed, with a focus on electrolyte degradation. A considerable part is then devoted to the degradation of lithium hexafluorophosphate, especially after exposure to water or moisture. The decomposition of the lithium salt is linked to the evolution of hydrofluoric acid, whose influence on the electrolyte parameters and methods of fast detection is the subject of the experimental section.
