Original Abstract

Clostridium beijerinckii NRRL B-598 may be used as a producer of butanol in the future, which means it can play a major role in biofuels production. To be able to understand the circumstances under which Clostridium beijerinckii NRRL B-598 produces butanol, it is necessary to understand its gene expression. To properly understand regulation of gene expression, is essential to have the knowledge about structures involved in this process. Particularly speaking about sRNA’s, UTR ends and operon structures. The main goal of this study was to detect and annotate required structures from RNA-Seq data and genome annotation using only online available tools, e.g. Rockhopper, Operon-mapper, FGENESB, DETR’PROCK and ANNOgesic. Data retrieved from selected available tools using different methods was processed and compared. Obtained results were validated using existing annotations or according to known characteristic features of new annotated structures. Detection of sRNA’s, UTR ends and operons, brought us closer to understanding the process of gene expression in Clostridium beijerinckii NRRL B-598 bacteria.
