Original Abstract

The history of the Brno University of Technology (BUT) dates back to September 19. 1899. when Franz Joseph I Emperor of Austria. King of Hungary. Croatia and Bohemia signed a decree to allow the creation of the first Czech technical university. Initially the university was home to just four professors teaching 47 students who all studied one course. civil engineering (The Faculty of Civil Engineering is the second largest in terms of students number – in total 3.717; thereof 1.402 women and 618 foreign in 2019).
