Original Abstract

Presence of some compounds with very low concentrations in water ecosystems can have adverse effect on environment and human health. Recently, attention is given especially to pharmaceuticals and hormones. In this paper we focused on the problem of occurrence of five estrogens (estrone, estradiol, estriol, ethinylestradiol and diethylstilbestrol) in wastewater. Target estrogens were determined in influent and effluent of two wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) located in South Moravian Region, the Czech Republic – the municipal WWTP in Břeclav and a WWTP of University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno. Samples were collected for 10 days.
