Original Abstract

The principal subject of this article is self-compacting concrete, in its various forms. It becomes more and more interesting for both designers and architects who are trying to take advantage of its unique properties. Many investors and performing companies are still discouraged by few experiences with this type of concrete and high technological discipline. The very essence of the use of SCC is their rheological ability to seep into the otherwise very hard accessible or inaccessible construction places or its sections where concrete compacting would be a problem or where vibration is completely excluded. They are also able to create a solid monolithic element with a large variety of shape - the concrete will at the same meet the requirements of both chemical aggression and influences of surrounding environment. Due to their viscosity, the SCC are able to imprint the formwork elements into their structure and thus to create high quality exposed concretes. It is important to note that despite significant technological advances, it still remains a material with many natural contingencies and that forming conditions and conditions of its treatment (on which very high demands are placed) are shown in its structure. This also creates a large space for building technologists: in close cooperation with architects, designers and construction, their task is to transfer ideas from paper to reality so that the resulting work meets the required utility, social and esthetic needs.
