Original Abstract

This paper describes the modernization of the BUTCA (Brno University of Technology Cyber Arena) component responsible for automating processes, as well as the implementation of backup and recovery procedures for critical parts of the OpenStack cloud computing platform used by Cyber Arena. Specifically the paper focuses on modernizing the AWX (Ansible Web eXecutable) component and creating automated backups for OpenStack critical data. It was researched that already implemented tools for the administration of OpenStack, such as existing OpenStack CLI (Command Line Interface) and Ansible OpenStack collections, lacked the necessary capabilities for creating complex backup and recovery processes. Therefore the focus is on obtaining data for backups from the MariaDB database that OpenStack uses to store data. The paper concludes with an overview of proposed approach to modernizing and streamlining Cyber Arena's backup and recovery processes on OpenStack.
