Original Abstract

Lipid nanoparticles have been developed with the progress innanotechnology and their unique properties have made themone of the most widely used nanoparticles. The presented workis focused on two types of nanostructured particles, liposomesand PHB-liposome particles. Materials were functionalizedby active compounds, thymol and vitamin E. Liposomes wereoverall tested for stability, gradual release of incorporatedsubstances in the model environment and biological activity.Liposomal size and colloid stability were defined by dynamiclight scattering and zeta-potential. Particles they were subject-ed to the characterization of gradual release using the spec-trophotometric method into model environments. Antimi-crobial activity and synergic effect against gram-positive andgram-negative strains of microorganisms were also evaluated. To assess whether prepared nanostructured materials are suit-able for further cosmetic applications, a cytotoxicity assay onthe HaCaT cell line was carried out. Functional liposomal par-ticles showed promising results for various applications as cos-metic preservation and pharmaceutical antimicrobial products.
