Original Abstract

One of the main problems in the design and application of EMI filters is the uncertainty and ambiguity of their source and load impedances. In the operating frequency range and in various electrical and/or electronic systems, both impedances may be variable from some tenth Ohms to some hundreds of Ohms. Nevertheless, most manufacturers provide their filters design for a matched 50 Ohms impedance system. The contribution presents a simple technique for prediction the real insertion loss of commonly manufactured and frequently used EMI C-filters working in arbitrary source/load impedance systems.
