The text presents the process of city planning as a network design. This design is determinated by two basic principles - by the principle of growth and by the principle of identity. Both principles are further discussed. This approach leads to a bilateral viewpoint to urban network development. This bilaterality is necessary for a successful and vital process of any urban development.
