Original Abstract

Vehicle industry is one of the most important branches of today, together with rapid development of powertrain strength and passenger comfort. These two aspects usually go against each other. Based on established regulations of emissions and noise at once, the companies were forced to start decreasing the environmental impact of the automotive industry. Noise, vibration, and harshness discipline connect these two, seemingly contradictory demands. This means that the process of development should cover complex tasks. The approach based mostly on experience no longer seems sufficient and is substituted by simulation only with the necessary experimental background. This paper deals with important data acquisition for the further evaluation of transmission noise. For the purpose of input data verification the experimental gearbox was created. To get the properly stated input excitation the modal exciter was designed and constructed afterwards, thus modal and harmonic analysis could have been performed. The results from measurement and Finite element method were compared with satisfactory correlation for two geometry variants.
