Original Abstract

Regulations of watercourses have been one of the basic building activities in the landscape. A need to obtain and use water power, demands of water for irrigation, the necessity of canalization of watercourses, fortification purposes, obtaining new tracts of land and many other reasons appear to be the cause of the unusual development of this water-management and landscape-enhancement discipline. Unfortunately, man did not always approach a river ecosystem with appropriate responsibility, viz both in the past and at present but above all to the future. It resulted in watercourses, the beds of which and many times the whole vicinity of the courses were to be regulated and returned to a state, which would originate by their natural development
