Original Abstract

Identification of bacterial DNA consists of several steps: cell lysis, extraction and purification of DNA followed by the identification of the bacterial species using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Genomic DNA was isolated from Lactobacillus plantarum CCM 7039, Lactobacillus fermentum CCM 7192, Lactobacillus rhamnosus CCM 1825, Lactobacillus casei subsp. casei CCM 7088, and Bifidobacterium bifidum CCM 3762 by fenol extraction procedure and by the salting out with NaCl solution. Crude cell lysates were prepared using standard procedure and using of laundry powder. The quality of isolated DNA was verified by UV spectrophotometry and by agarose gel electrophoresis. Isolated DNA was used as a template for PCR
