Original Abstract

Fibre reinforced elastometric bearings tend to replace the commonly used steel reinforced elastometric bearings, as seismic isolation devices. In the present paper mechanical characteristics of fibre reinforced elastometric bearings are presented based on literature rewiev. Afterwards a description of an experimental procedure conducted on both carbon fibre and steel reinforced bearings is given.
