On the project

Description in English
The project deals with problems connected with a newly developing field of electron microscopy environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM). Attention is concentrated on the separation of vacuum from the pressure chamber, speed of vacuum pumping andpressure coriditions with regard to the propagation of electrons in these media. Problems of collisions with molecules of gases are dealt with in connection with the detection technology that must be adapted so that a maximum resolution and a sufficientcontrast of the image of the specimen under investigation are achieved. Further, problems regarding scintillation single crystal materials, determination of discharge conditions and limit when the detector electrodes are supplied with a voltage are treated, and the possibility of applying an x-ray microanalyzer in a gaseous medium is investigated. The aim of the project is to adapt a small desk-top TESLA BS 343 microscope to environmental conditions of operation, to equip it with a very efficient and r
