Project detail

ReduHeatLoss - Reduction of heat losses in hot rolling

Duration: 01.07.2020 — 31.12.2023

Funding resources

Evropská unie - The Research Fund for Coal and Steel

- whole funder (2020-02-06 - 2023-12-31)

On the project

The main aim is to reduce energy losses during production of long products such as rails. This will include reduction of product temperature drop during descaling but assuring an optimal descaling, during rolling in universal rolling stand, by radiation between stand, convection to guiding equipment but even more important by parasitic coolant flows on the product. New descaling systems will be tested such as shot blasting and rotary descaler. The aim will be to increase roll performance in the vertical sleeves of the universal rolling stand and to reduce severe degradation of the top and side flanges of the vertical roll.
