Chemical show shines at Festival of Planets 2025

During summer evenings in the first week of August, the Brno Observatory partially transformed into an open-air laboratory. At the Festival of Planets, chemists led by Tomáš Opravil embarked on a daring space mission full of experiments. The chemical spectacle, prepared by experts from the Faculty of Chemistry at BUT, attracted crowds of young and adult science fans.

Under giant models of planets, chemistry came to life in full glory – bright colors, dense smoke, loud explosions, and mysterious fog.

Festival Record – Magic Pot, Cook!

Friday evening, August 8, belonged to the grand finale. Exactly at 6:00 PM, chemists launched a domino chemical experiment carried out by brave volunteers from the audience – and without any prior preparation! Even supernovas would envy their energy and enthusiasm.

And if you missed our chemists at Kraví hora, don’t worry. Soon the chemical show will return – this time at the Festival of Science 2025 on September 5–7 at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Expect your favorite experiments, brand new ones, and plenty of sparkling atmosphere.
