The Functional Transformation conference aimed to theoretically, methodologically and practically justify the need and determine the conditions of internal reconstruction and functional transformation of a number of buildings in Slovak towns and villages. The focus of the conference was on specifying a system of model successful implementations of functional transformations in buildings as well as on examples of buildings suitable for conversion in view of particular local and regional conditions. Problems specific for Slovakia also included the urgent need to discuss the conditions of functional transformations of servicing facilities, schools in particular.
