In this experimental study, we present the application of focused surface acoustic waves (FSAWs) for the trapping of polyethylene microplastics (PE MPs) in a PDMS microfluidic chip. We emphasize the relevance of acoustic trapping for the detection of MPs, which pose a considerable threat to marine and terrestrial ecosystems on a global scale.
