Conventional optical elements used nowadays are usually bulky and heavy, while metasurfaces offer a promising solution allowing for miniaturization and multifunctionality. In this work, we use hafnium dioxide (HfO2) for its high index of refraction and wide bandgap, both of which allow for fabrication of dielectric metasurfaces even for deep-UV wavelengths. We present a metalens and polarization beam splitter composed of high aspect-ratio nanopillars and analyze their functionality for wavelengths of 325 nm and 266 nm.
