The results of statistical and sensitivity analyses of the resistance of a thin-walled steel girder welded of slender webs are presented in the paper. The theoretical analysis is based on a non-linear finite element method, the girder being modelled by means of shell elements and the ANSYS program being applied. All input imperfections were considered to be random quantities. The influence of initial imperfections on the girder static ultimate load is analysed by the sensitivity analysis. Further on, the fatigue limit state of a structure loaded by service load is analysed, as well. The repeated stress change in the web breathing under repeated load causes the cumulative failure and fatigue cracks initiate and propagate. Therefore it is necessary to analyse the effect of the stress state occurring in the crack-prone areas of the "breathing" web under service loads. In the present paper, the results of theoretical analysis of two thin-walled girders with wall thickness of 4 mm and 6 mm respectively, are presented.
