The aim of this paper is to present a thermal technical assessment of the new innovative way of placing ventilation ducts in a thermal insulation system of a renovated apartment building. Suitability of various shapes of ducts and various thicknesses of thermal insulation system is assessed. The assessment is based on determination of heat gains and losses of the ventilation system in summer season, including effect of solar radiation. Thermomechanical numerical simulation of 2D heat conduction is carried out in software CalA using theory of heat transfer with the criteria of similarity. The obtained results demonstrate the optimal shape of ducts and their optimal position in the thermal insulation system.
