Measurement of spectral characteristics of a sound or ultrasound wave passing through a specimen is a frequently used method for testing its material properties. One of the variants is a measurement of gradually changing the frequency of harmonic input signal. Another option, which this article is focused on, is a testing of multiple frequencies simultaneously using a white noise generator. The frequency analysis is applied on the outcoming signal. The article describes a design and production of the white noise generator based on microcontroller.
