This subject is aimed at acquisition of basic knowledge in the field of vehicle design, car bodies, engines, chassis, gearboxes and electric and electronic equipment.

Student gains knowledge of vehicle design necessary for managerial functions at different levels for decision-making activities in the field of automotive.

Course curriculum

1. Motor vehicles (evolution, categories and design)
2. Four-stroke gas engines (physical and chemical elements, fixed and movable parts)
3. Four-stroke gas engines (fuel system, air filters, ignition, exhaust system, oil system, cooling system).
4. Two-stroke gas engines, diesel engines.
5. Rotary engines, pressure charging system, alternative concepts.
6. Gearbox, clutch, torque converter.
7. Automatic gearbox, propeller shaft, axle, joint, axle gearbox, differential, all wheels drive.
8. Car body (construction, material, safety)
9. Chassis (suspension, damping, driving, brakes, wheels, tyres).
10. Commercial vehicles (types, engines, starters, chassis).
11. Electrical equipment (power supply, electric appliances, ignition and oscillograms).
12. Electrical equipment (spark plug, lights, comfort electronics).
13. Electrical equipment (measuring, tests), etc.

oal of this subject is to gain the basic expert knowledge of design of passenger and commercial vehicles and to acquaint students with development tendencies in this branch.
