In this paper are are given global information about recent low temperature polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. Furthermore, experimental preparation and resistviity measurements of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer electrolyte membranes are described. Fundamental characteristics of fuel cells containing PVA membranes were measured (e. g. volt-ampere and power characteristics).
