Original Abstract

Biodegradable polyurethane (bio-PU) elastomers with potential use as scaffolds in a regenerative medicine were synthesized using poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), poly(caprolactone) (PCL) and hexamethylene diisocyanate catalyzed with stannous octoate. Effect of bio-PU composition on the swelling and hydrolytic stability was investigated together with testing mechanical properties, monitoring of net formation and the degree of conversion of prepared samples. The morphology of prepared samples was analysed by optical microscopy. Chemical composition was tested by infrared spectroscopy and the thermal properties were measured by differential scanning calorimetry.
