Original Abstract

The aim of research work was the verification of fly ash activation in order to obtain an alternative material with better qualitative properties than common fly ashes for utilization in transport-concrete and in self-compacting concrete. The undemanding method of fly ashes thermal activation which should increase the puzzolana activity of common fly ashes was verified. This should increase the utilization of fly ashes in concrete manufacture and simultaneously achieve economical effects, especially cement savings. Two meth-ods of thermal activation were tested experimentally and then a series of tests was made with the in this way treated activated fly ash in order to evaluate the differences of activity between common and activated fly ashes utilized as an active admixture in concrete.
