Original Abstract

English abstract

Gasification is one of promising alternative technologies for heat and electricity production from renewable and alternative fuels. However, tar and dust present in the gas don't enable the direct utilization, for example in internal combustion motors, turbines or fuel cells. Known cleaning technologies used in well known industrial applications (coal gasification) are not suitable and acceptable due to the high investment costs, the wastewater production and the loss of process efficiency. Dolomite using for catalytic tar removal either direct in a fluidized bed in gasifier or in a hot catalytic filter does away with gas cooling and waterwaste production. Unlike "wet methods" the high temperature catalysts crack the tars directly and increase the total process efficiency. This work describes particularly the hot gas cleaning system studied on pilot continual-working moving bed filter ( 0.25m, high: 2 m, gas flow: 20-30 m3n.h-1) coupled with a fluidized bed gasifier (100 kWth). The externally heated filter operates at temperature range of 700-1100 C in counter-current configuration with the dolomite (2-5mm) as the filtration and catalytic active material. This complete pilot unit is situated at Department of Power Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. The gas composition, the tar and dust contents were measured before and after the hot filter at different gas flow rates. The temperature profiles and dust distribution in the bed were determined. The pressure drop through filter was measured at different modes of operation and was relatively low. The tar and dust removal efficiency were determineted at different temperatures and flow velocities.Under optimized conditions of filtration (temperature, gas flow, rate of material removal) the high efficiencies of tar and dust removal were found.
