Original Abstract

This paper presents the results of a case study utilizing small scale numerical modeling for expression of the relation between the moving cars induced kinetic energy of turbulence and the PM10 concentration along the street canyon in the central part of the city of Brno. The influence of moving cars plays a significant roll in PM dispersion processes along traffic paths. Moving vehicles enhance both micro- and large-scale mixing processes in the environment by inducing additional turbulence and by entraining masses of air in the direction of vehicle movement. The CFD code StarCD was used as a convenient modeling tool. A model based on Eulerian - Lagrangian approach to moving objects (Jicha et al., 2000) has been used for inclusion of traffic dynamic.
