Original Abstract

This paper describes the design of a higher-order analog filter with differential input and output current followers. Prototypes of these active elements with improved internal structure are ready to be manufactured. The filter design is based on the second canonic state-variable structure and the resulting circuit offers an arbitrary transfer function. As an example, fourth-order Cauer low-pass filter is designed. It allows dynamic optimization, which prevents the active devices from being overloaded. PSpice modeling confirms a correct functionality of the filter at high frequencies. Computer simulation is also used to analyze the influence of active element real properties and of passive element tolerances on the frequency characteristic of the proposed filter.
