Original Abstract

Two methods for segmentation of 3D ultrasound images are described in this papers. Ultrasound images are a special kind of medical images. From the signal theory view it is a signal with many noise, especially speckles, which are a different kind in compare to common noises. There are also low contrast and vague edges in ultrasound images and common criterias and techniques for segmentation of ultrasound images are unuseble. This research is oriented on using active contour method in process of segmentation of ultrasound images. These techniques support combination of several segmentation methos as well as import information from another part of signal processing into the segmentation process.
