Original Abstract

Metal halide discharge lamps are becoming increasingly important, especially as a replacement of obsolete mercury discharge lamp. They excel in higher efficiency and better output spectrum. The operation of metal halide discharge lamps is faced with a lot of disturbing elements, which comes from the actual power supply, and from the external environment. Among the most disturbing are atmospheric conditions in the surroundings as air flow, ambient emperature, humidity, etc., and the influence of strong electromagnetic fields. In addition to these disturbing elements to operation and the actual operating parameters of the discharge lamps also a significant influence mechanical position of the burner, where "burns" discharge. This article deals with the theoretical aplications of this change in the position to change the operating parameters. In this article are also included the measured data, which are verified the theoretical assumptions.
