Original Abstract

Final treatment of sludge is a common problem related to pulp production and WWTPs. This problem is usually solved by means of incineration, anaerobic digestion, landfilling, etc. This work presents calculations of mass and enthalpy balances of different sludge disposal methods. The input data for balance calculations are based upon sludge analysis. The results of the simulation are compared to the measured data obtained during incineration (co-firing) test. Then the best possible sludge disposal method can be recommended to the pulp production company. Nevertheless this recommendation can be taken as a general one and can also serve to the other sludge producers. This work presents a very simple however efficient approach to the sludge disposal problem.
