Original Abstract
Photovoltaic inverters represent the interface between the photovoltaic source and the distribution grid which can be significantly affected in a positive as well as a negative way. With the growing number of photovoltaic sources in the electric power system, the reliability of operating characteristics of inverters is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, this paper deals with testing of selected functions of photovoltaic inverters in order to verify compliance with operational requirements in the Czech Republic. Simple test procedures designed for this purpose were used. Tests were conducted at BUT in the laboratory called ResLab and a total of three types of inverters were tested. Test results are presented, compared and discussed. Overall, it can be stated that none of the tested devices meets the requirements to the full extent. The final part of the paper contains a summarization of the findings and provides recommendations of the authors towards distribution system operators in order to maintain the current level of quality and reliability of electricity supply.
